Consultant Psychiatrist – Regional Western Australia Permanent | Fixed-Term | Full-Time | Part-Time | Sessional Package up to approx. $523,000 p.a. | Brand-New Inpatient Mental Health Unit I am currently recruiting for a major regional health service in Western Australia seeking Consultant Psychiatrists (2.0 FTE) to join a newly redeveloped mental health service in one of WA’s most vibrant coastal regional centres. This is a rare opportunity to step into a brand-new inpatient mental health unit as part of a $200M redevelopment and help shape the future of regional psychiatry services. The Opportunity You will be joining a significantly expanded mental health service featuring: 15-bed Inpatient Mental Health Unit 4-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Co-located Community Mental Health Clinic Integrated Alcohol & Drug Services Strong multidisciplinary model of care The broader campus redevelopment includes a new ICU and Emergency Department, elevating the hospital to a true regional centre of excellence. The medical team currently includes: Director of Clinical Services – Mental Health 7 Consultant Psychiatrists 7 Trainee Registrars RMOs & Interns Caseloads and on-call commitments are considered manageable, supporting genuine work–life balance. The Role As Consultant Psychiatrist, you will: Provide adult psychiatric assessment and treatment (inpatient & community) Deliver ECT services Provide expert consultation to GPs and regional providers Support service planning, governance and quality improvement Mentor registrars and contribute to training programs Collaborate closely with community and multidisciplinary teams You will report directly to the Director of Clinical Services – Mental Health and play a key leadership role in shaping service delivery. Remuneration Under the WA Health AMA Agreement 2024: Consultant Year 1–9: approx. $412,000 – $523,000 p.a.
